  2. Ninjas use their knowledge of GDP objects to create their own static scene.
  3. * application of opacity, scale, rotation, size
  4. NOTE: This activity is generally skipped because they 02-03 Under the Stars
  5. has them doing the same thing in addition to adding some code to make it more
  6. interesting
  7. Sensei Notes
  8. * The goal of this activity and the other activities in section 1 is to continue
  9. to develop familiarity with the GDP before Ninjas start coding.
  10. * Provide the Ninja with paper and drawing utensils, ideally colored pencils.
  11. * If the Ninja is having a difficult time deciding what to draw, ask them about
  12. some of their favorite movies, shows, or games.
  13. * If a Ninja wants to jump right into the GDP, make sure that they take the time
  14. to plan out what they aregoing to create. Stress that it is okay to change their
  15. ideas in the GDP later.
  16. * There is no coding in this activity.
  17. * The Ninja should be able to navigate the GDP and add new objects.
  18. * The Ninja should be able to change the properties of objects.
  19. Solution Steps
  20. 1 Provide the Ninja with paper and drawing utensils.
  21. 2 Explain that the GDP only knows a few basic shapes but that they can create
  22. complex objects out of many simple shapes.
  23. 3 Help the Ninjas navigate to the correct scene. Make sure they know where to do
  24. and can do it without assistance.
  25. 4 Review the Ninja's sketch and ask how they are going to begin to recreate it in
  26. the GDP.
  27. 5 Review the Ninja's final scene to see if they demonstrated mastery of adding
  28. and modifying GDP shapes.
  29. Sensei Stops
  30. 5 Tell a Sensei about your digital painting. What is it? Why did you make it?
  31. Was it easy or hard to turn a real drawing into o digital piece of art?
  32. The goal of this activity was to let the Ninja be creative while also increasing
  33. their proficiency navigating the GDP. This is also a good time to make personal
  34. connections with your Ninja. Listen to their answers and ask follow-up questions.
  35. Ask if there is a story behind their scene. Do they like art or programming more?
  36. Do you have a relatable story or experience to share with the Ninja?
